Empower people to flourish in life while earning cash and equity on your own schedule.
Flourish Space invites you to become a trained coach. We provide affordable, safe and stress-free professional coaching for young professionals to obtain peace, clarity and overall flourishing.
We work with users to help them achieve their personal and professional goals through 1:1 sessions and role-playing. Our frameworks, vetted by professionals and academics from Stanford and Harvard, are easy to follow and highly effective.
Coaching with Flourish is a great way to improve your skills and increase your customer base.
We currently recognize NBC-HWC and ICF, but are open to considering coaches with other training upon request. Other certifications should be related to promoting mental wellness (e.g. LCSW, MFT, CPE)
We'll teach you everything you need to become a successful well-being coach on our platform.
As you work with Flourish customers, you can improve essential skills for coaching, therapy, and management. You will also receive ongoing professional training from world class experts like clinical psychologists from Stanford University (~$400 / hour in value based on market rate).
Making a positive impact on young people so they can flourish at work and home. You don’t need to find clients. We bring them to you through our platform.
You set your own rate at work on your own schedule.
High performing coaches have an opportunity to receive stock options from us, a Silicon Valley funded tech startup, to build attractive wealth for the long haul and grow with the company.
We are committed to making the tools that enable human flourishing (currently principally coaching, but with the goal of adding other services and products) available to all. As such, we do what we can to make our offerings as affordable as possible.
By becoming a part of the Flourish coaching community, you will have access to Flourish members who pay a base monthly subscription fee and then purchase coaching on top of that. You would be an independent contractor / vendor offering your services through our online marketplace. Your hours and availability would be yours to decide. We do expect all of our coaches to be able to commit at least 3 sessions (1.5 hours) per week.
Coaches can set their own rates, but we have a recommended rate of $30-40 per block of 4 half-hour sessions (which works out to $15-20 / hour). We are still working out the details but as it stands now, we do not intend to charge a commission. Our costs will be covered by the membership fee. Of course, that doesn’t include third-party transaction fees which we have no control over, but that would be the case if you were coaching independently as well. It’s important to us to keep coaching affordable, but we will not cap your rate.
That said, there are other ways to grow as a Flourish coach aside from the base rate of coaching. One is to receive an equity bonus to build long term true wealth. Since we are more interested in having a wide impact, it is more important to us that coaches can have a transformative impact on many lives. This is why we actually prefer to make our money from membership fees, as opposed to a commission. Thus, high performing coaches (in terms of impact on members, not money raised) will have a chance to earn equity in Flourish Tech.
The onboarding itself won’t have much information. Most of that can be found in the Flourish Library and you will go through that ahead of time. You’ll also be asked to review a coaching handbook and one or two other resources. The training itself is both a Q&A with the authors of the material and a chance to practice with other coaches.
There is no cost. In the future, we may start to charge for training, but for now it’s free. (We have more members than we can currently handle and wouldn’t want cost to be a barrier for prospective coaches!)
Your schedule is essentially between you and the members, so whatever you both can agree on. You can set your availability as you wish. As a matter of fact, many members have the exact same constraint and therefore prefer to see coaches either during their lunch break or after work. So that should be fine. We also have members in various time zones, so there are many possible combinations that work.
We expect our coaches to commit to at least 3 half-hour sessions per week. As for when, that’s up to you and the member. You can set your own availability as you wish. (Most members prefer to meet during their lunch break or after work.)
After training, you’ll be asked to watch a series of recorded sessions with real members and comment on what you see. Your answers will be reviewed (mostly we want to make sure you’re paying attention and can see what the coach is doing) and then you will be evaluated by a senior coach. After that, you will have two or three supervised sessions with members in which an experienced coach will shadow the session to observe and give feedback. If the members find the sessions valuable and want to work with you again, and the supervising coach believes you’re ready, you can start seeing members on your own. Altogether, this could take anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks, depending largely on how quickly you go through the material and demonstrate coaching competency.
Our bread and butter thus far have been:
We are in the process of adding new modules, though they typically involve those two basic formats (role play or guided conversation) or maybe a combination of the two. But those are the primary methods you will be taught and what our members currently expect.
We intend to develop a community of coaches that can learn from and support one another. We hope that you will develop a bond with the other trainees who go through the program with you. (That’s another reason why we expect all prospective coaches to go through the training whether they are experienced or not.
We are constantly in the process of developing new modules internally, and we hope that you and other coaches will contribute to that process as well. We then try out these modules with each other to refine them before offering them to members. So, the coaching community is also a learning community. The Flourish team has deep connections with world class institutions like Stanford and Harvard that are constantly pumping out new materials on personal development and leadership training. We will be adding content from those cutting-edge institutions as fitting.
It is not. While our respective and diverse spiritual and religious backgrounds definitely inform and motivate what we do here, we also are first and foremost committed to the flourishing of all people (regardless of religion, or lack thereof, or any other protected characteristic, for that matter).
I’m glad you asked! We’ve adopted something of a nickname culture at Flourish. The nicknames are both aspirational, and also keep us from taking ourselves too seriously. We’ve also found it really handy for being able to talk about members, when they choose nicknames for themselves, while maintaining their anonymity. (It’s a lot easier to remember who “Farmer” is than “Member 14”.) So, I’m Dr. Strange. Our CEO is Hal5 (a reference to Prince Henry, later King Henry V—our CEO is a student of Shakespeare), our CTO is Groot. Superheroes are a popular choice. You are encouraged (though not at all required!) to provide a nickname for yourself.
